Back in 1942 in Italy, the timepiece company
Officine Fotana drew up a selection of designs for watches with the purpose
of the U-boat commanders being able to easily read the time in low levels
of light. Despite being a clever and functional idea, the watches were never
actually produced. The current U-Boat collection was introduced in 2000 and
became an instant hit. These watches are uniquely recognized by their
crown positioned on the left side of the case. All U-Boat watches are
considered limited edition, with some models only made in quantities of
just 1,000.
